Rhymney Brewery was once the largest brewery business in Wales, with a heritage dating back to 1839 – a time when beer was far safer to drink than water. With the memorable slogan “Beer – it’s lovely!”, it is one of Wales’ most iconic brewing brands. The directors of the brewery wanted to commemorate the brand with bespoke rings and approached us to come up with a design concept and manufacture the pieces.
Our solution
With signet rings back in fashion, our head designer Neil Rayment took the opportunity to create a trendy yet traditional piece of jewellery as iconic as the brand itself.
The brewery’s iconic logo is based around a barrel-bellied horse, so we used this as the centrepiece of the design. We produced initial design concepts using CAD software, and once these were signed off by the client we produced prototypes and masters, before manufacturing the four rings to the highest-spec finish.
